Deltaport Way Bridge
Two concrete T-beam highway bridges, each 70 meters long and 10 meters wide
Location: Tsawassen, British Columbia
Date built: 1970
Date of test: November 2001
Purpose of Test: The Deltaport Way Bridge is a unique structure composed of two separate bridges that are in contact along their length; one bridge for each direction of traffic. The bridge was chosen by the Ministry of Transportation of British Columbia for investigation, due to possible inclusion in their seismic retrofit program. The test aimed to validate a computer model to be used in the design process for a possible seismic upgrade of the bridge.
