Purpose of Test: The testing of Ruskin Dam was conducted in partnership with BC Hydro to determine the overall suitability of ambient vibration testing and analysis as a method of seismic evaluation of concrete gravity dams. BC Hydro determined that the consequences of failure of Ruskin Dam are high and that dynamic analysis to evaluate seismic response was necessary. The dynamic properties obtained during this test were used to calibrate a numeric model of the dam.
